Sollentuna Family Photo Session

Sometimes you live in Sweden, your extended family lives in Iceland, and you decide to get everyone together in Sweden for one big family party! Well, that’s exactly what happened to this high-vibe family who had relations visiting from Iceland and decided to have some family portraits first, then get portraits of the families together. I won’t share the extended family images, but I am sharing a selection of beautiful portraits from this fast-paced, fun family photo session here in Sollentuna :)

Fun Family Session

Greetings from Stockholm on this rainy Thursday afternoon!  I hope wherever you are right now that you are enjoying a hot drink with a sweet treat on the side ;)  I don’t know about you, but I for one, can never just have a cup of tea without a little something-something on the side ;)  If you’re sitting comfy, I’d love to share this fun family session with you.  The location for this session was a farm that’s open to the public.  We walked down a quiet path and into an open area where this little livewire had plenty of space to run and explore!  :)

Before every portrait session, I send my client a style guide, which contains lots of tips on what to wear and what not to wear (equally important) to our session.  I love the outfit the mom chose for this little guy.  It was timeless and non-distracting.  And in case you don’t already know, I love a good hat in photographs!

Relaxed Family Photo Session in Sollentuna

When a family books me to photograph their family, I am always honoured.  When they book more Jolly photo sessions, I don’t take it lightly.  I work as hard on subsequent sessions as I did on the very first one to make sure everyone is having fun, and I aim to create many more images that the family will absolutely love.  This relaxed family photo session in Sollentuna was my second time photographing this very photogenic family, and we had many a laugh during our time together :)

This mom, an accomplished author of several books, including the children’s book We Walk Through the Forest (a great birthday or Christmas gift), had this first image printed large and beautifully framed.  It now hangs proudly in the family’s living room!   And that makes it all worthwhile for me :)

Having Fun With Strangers

Sometimes I can’t believe that part of my job is about having fun with strangers! Yes, I know I run a business and create portraits for people, but when it boils down to it, they would be pretty crap portraits if we weren’t all having fun at our portrait session. And so it’s up to me to bring the fun to every session. I usually have a quick video consultation with the mom or dad who booked the session, but other than that, we are effectively strangers meeting each other for the first time in real life ;)

Getting peoole to laugh is a great way to break the ice, especially if someone is nervous. Go out on a limb, crack and joke and feel the energy change. I had SO much fun with this family!! It really felt like the kids and I had always known each other, as we ran around the park (yes, I ran with some extremely heavy gear hanging around my neck!), and cracked jokes together! I basically had the best of fun with strangers!

Try having some fun with a stranger today. You’ll both walk away feeling happier for the exchange ;)
